This is the cubs page for Hick's Own and Braeside Cubs.

Cub Giant Sleepover
On Saturday 14 June 2008, 30 cubs and 5 leaders from Braeside and Hick's Own packs took part in the Giant Sleepover and along with lots of other children across the country, broke the Guiness World Records for the largest number of children simultaneously sleeping over on one night across the UK and for the largest number of children simultaneously brushing their teeth!

Even though it was only one night, we still squeezed in camping on the Prairie, cooking on fires and a big campfire with our friends from 3rd Riverhead cub pack, which was lots of fun. We also did a coin trail around the hut and raised £116 for Save the Children, the event's charity partner - well done cubs!

District Cub Camp 2008
13 cubs and a team of 6 leaders from Braeside and Hicks Own cub packs joined with other Sevenoaks District packs for an action packed camp on May 2-5th. Apart from the first night when we all shivered in our sleeping bags, the weather was fantastic, and the fun was non-stop!

Around 120 cubs in total participated in hiking, team building, aerial trek course, zip wire, grass sledging, picture trail, wide games and challenges, backwoods cooking, and a giant camp fire with other cubs and scouts on the site. For some of our cubs, it was their first experience of camping, others were old hands, and they all did a really great job of working together, learning from each other and making new friends in their team groups. Congratulations to the Braeside cubs who were part of "Team Expert" winning the Challenge 22 game, and to the Hicks Own cubs who were part of "Team Invincible" coming in 3rd place.
Akela Chil from Hicks Own did a fantastic job as camp cook producing around 130 meals over the weekend to feed 1st Sevenoaks. Its hard to beat bacon, pancakes and maple syrup for breakfast in the open air!
It was Akala Pat's last District event, before she leaves the area later in the year, and she was presented with gift from the District at the end of camp as a token of thanks for her contribution to cub scouting in Sevenoaks over the last 13 years.
